Hook Generator
Ten opening lines for any video, each under 15 words and written to be said out loud in three seconds. Every hook comes with the archetype it uses and why it works.
Your video
The more specific the subject, the less generic the hooks. Name the audience or the claim.
Let the model pick the best angle for each hook
Every hook comes back under 15 words, so it can actually be said in the first three seconds.

Most hook generators write headlines, not hooks
Paste a topic into almost any of them and you get lines like “The Untold Truth About Freelance Pricing That Nobody Wants You To Know”. That is a headline. It reads at a glance and it works on a page, but said aloud it is five and a half seconds of audio, and by then the retention graph has already decided. Hooks are governed by breath, not by column width, and a tool that never measures spoken length cannot enforce the only constraint that matters.
The second failure is generic mechanism. A hook works because it does something specific to the viewer: it opens a loop, rejects a belief they hold, names them directly, or shows them a cost they are already paying. Most tools generate ten variations of the same mechanism with different nouns swapped in, which is why a channel using them starts sounding identical to itself by the fourth upload. Tagging each line with its archetype is not decoration — it is how you notice you have shipped the same hook five times.
What we would push back on, though, is the idea that a great hook rescues a weak video. It does not. It buys you three seconds of attention, and the fourth second is where most videos actually die. Treat the hook as the cheapest thing to iterate on and the least likely to be your real problem: if your retention cliff is at 15 seconds rather than 3, the hook is doing its job and the script is not.
Frequently asked questions
How opening lines actually earn the next three seconds
Two things, in order: it has to be sayable in the time you have, and it has to create a reason to stay. A hook of 28 words is already 6 seconds of audio, and the retention graph has made its decision by then. Once length is right, the mechanism matters — an open loop, a rejected belief, a number, a named audience — which is why every hook here comes tagged with the archetype it uses.
